Duality Knight App: Sir Emmet Kobalt

Name: Sir Emmet Kobalt, usually goes by Em
Age: 19
History: Little Emmet was born to Lord Darius and Lady Selena Kobalt upon the island nation that would become Mossdeep city in Hoenn, and was third in line for the throne after his older sisters. Being the first son, he was to be raised as a knight. However, two years from his birth, the young toddler cried out in the night, bringing his parents running. Upon entering his room, they saw a dark serpentine shape slip out a window, a Seviper by the look of the bladed tale. Gasping in horror, the royal couple looked aghast at the hideous bite left on their baby’s face. Instantly rushing him to the local tribe’s shaman, he promised to treat the child, but warned that it may take a miracle to save him.
The toddler stayed under the shamans care for months, but miraculously began to recover. Eventually, he was able to talk and walk as he once had, overjoying his parents and siblings. Unfortunately, he did not completely heal, and his eyes were left a solid milky, off-white color. Though still able to see, they are disturbing to behold, and he keeps them in the shade of his helm to this day.
After spending a long time in the shamans hut, Em became friends with many of the islanders, and enjoyed spending time outdoors with them as opposed to in his parent’s stuffy old castle. When he came of age, he was taught to fight with a curved sword along with the native children, as well as fight with Pokémon.
When he was deemed old enough, he went out hunting with the islanders, and discovered a herd of Aaron huddled in a group of sea caves. Capturing one with a hollow apricorn given to him by some of the tribal children, he named it Jasper, after the shaman who had saved his life.
As a gift upon his 16th birthday, the islanders gifted him with a scimitar in the tribal style, forged in cobalt to match his armor. They also gave him a rare Lunatone, adding to his arsenal of Pokémon.
Sadly, the peace was not to be. The royal family’s trading posts began to evolve into full-blown manors and towns, and began widespread deforestation to craft more trade ships. The native islanders were displaced by the masses, and several of Em’s closest friends, as well as his longtime teacher and friend, were taken away to the mainland. Enraged by the deportation, Em confronted his father, only to be dismissed as foolish and too young to see the economic boon to the throne.
Later that night, Em stole out of his father’s keep with his Lunatone and Aaron, after gathering his armor and personal wealth. Disillusioned with nobility, and still shocked at his parent’s lack of gratitude to the tribe who essentially raised him. Making it to the docks, he gave a fishing captain a fistful of riches, asking only to be taken as far from this place as possible. The captain, who had never seen so much cash in one place, gladly obliged, setting his sails for the distant Unova region.

Note: Though he was the son of a noble in Hoenn, the title holds no power in Unova


Personality: Em is out there to try everything! He loves exploring against his better judgement just for the chance to find something new or meet interesting people. He also likes to chat and share stories, though being from hoenn, he has a bit of an accent.Though he is slightly snooty towards the lower class, vestiges of his noble heritage, he is generally open minded and willing to give anyone a second chance. That said, Em has little patience for people who ask about his eyes, or assume that he is inferior because of them. He is also willing to strike down those who would use poison or backstabbing, and is willing to slay them if they do no repent.

Jasper: Em’s first Pokémon, Jasper is very loyal to his master. Unfortunately, he’s not much more, the Aggron not being overly bright. He’s got a heart of gold though, and will stand up for others without his master’s commands.

Lena: Just like the moon, Lena is, well, alien. It doesn’t seem to speak, or really have any emotions. She has the habit of floating on her side at night, pointing her beak toward the moon.

Stray: Found as a stowaway in the bilge of Em’s escape boat, Stray was exactly as his name suggests. Though he’s not overly effective in combat, Em keeps him as more of a pet. That said, he can be very useful for situations that require more fine detail than Jasper’s heavy strikes or Lena’s psychic blasts.

Should I add more to the backstory? It seems like a good idea, but I want to start on the intro comic.
